Since the days of dv camcorders and first generation iMovie, I have always been drawn to video making. It became clear in 2011 that my passion for skiing (the outdoors) and filmmaking work well together. With a BA in studio art, I pursued my interest through internships and entry level editing jobs, production assistance-ing when Pottery Barn Kids and Nike came to town, and slowly piecing my own camera kit together. Somewhere along the way, I became a filmmaker. As I continue to grown and learn, Allie Rood Films aims to create videos ranging from feature length documentary to content marketing and commercial work. Always story driven.
I've worked for recognized production companies such as Teton Gravity Research, KGB Productions, and Unicorn Picnic Productions. I was assistant editor and associate producer for the all female ski film "Pretty Face" nominated for movie of the year at the 2014 Powder Awards and winner of the Cold Smoke Femme Fatal award in 2015. Most recently I have worked as a freelance filmmaker, working on projects for Blank Canvas Wines, The Avalanche Project, Mountain Hardwear, Armada Skis, and various AllieOutside films.
As a wanderer, I mostly stay off the beaten path. It is my adventurous spirit that has, for better or for worse, shaped the lifestyle I live now. You will find me on rivers, mountains, and roads with a big old mouth of pearly whites. And my camera!
This film is committed to a story that exemplifies creative action, free thinking, community, design as problem solving, and a fearless sense of possibility for a future that is focused on moving the needle towards better solutions.
